Foundations of Practice

Good arts-based pedagogy creates impactful awareness of what ultimately becomes evolving practice. Its an adaptive exchange of perspective where designers and visual art students, transform sensory experience into knowledge that then through skill becomes development of form/communication (I often employ hidden curriculum, psychological revelations of the inner manipulations, mashups or divergent ideas (i.e. skateboarding and public advocacy,) pushing students to slowly (sometimes unaware) become actors able to develop multiple conceptual ideas rather than be passive audience members. This helps people understand the bridge of transference between the passive “I” as audience/consumer to “We” as creative/maker expressing ideas.
